Chaotic Chocolate Cake

This was a joint birthday cake for my boyfriend & his mate last August. They both have a massive sweet tooth so I went a bit mad with it.




When I make a chocolate cake instead of just adding the cocoa powder straight in the mix, I add some hot water to it first. I found doing this makes the cake more moist, chocolate cakes can sometimes be a bit dry and is about getting the consistency right. To add a more rich chocolate flavour to the cake, the best thing is putting in some dark chocolate. I melted some chocolate chips in with the cocoa powder & hot water.



As this was a special cake I had to fill the middle with some sweets! The icing I made was just cream & jam swirled together- full of sugery goodness .




Total messy cake but tasted delicious and the boys loved it. Full of sugar, cream and chocolate.
