I wanted to write post a while ago, well 6 months ago of how baking had been a therapy for me but I just didn’t know where to start.
I have always enjoyed baking but when I got to my lowest point with suffering with anxiety and depression I lost a lot of weight. Baking helped me by allowing my mind to focus on something else. It got me out of bed by having a hobby to do at home when I didn’t want to go outside.
I started by baking something new at the weekend to take to the office on a Monday morning to share with everyone. My favourite is seeing other people enjoying the things I have created. They helped me come up with recipe suggestions and what they like.
I get my inspiration for ideas from blogs, Instagram and most recently watching tv on a Sunday morning with my boyfriend as cooking shows are very popular in his house.
For me it really helped having a creative outlet but also something to eat at the end. Recently I have been baking less and cooking more. Sugar isn’t always great but having a meal/dessert/snack to focus on, helps me relax by following a recipe which clears my mind of everything else going on inside it.
This blog started off as a university project, as baking had helped me this is something I want to share with others. While doing my research into Baking therapy I came across this article which explains it so much better than I can.
